Not a Boat Tour. A Camp on the Lagoon.

Most whale watching trips are a few hours on a boat and a drive home. Ours is different: you live on the shore of Laguna Ojo de Liebre, inside the Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve, for the whole trip. Upscale safari tents and cabins sit close enough to the water that you’ll hear whales surfacing through the night then in the morning, the boats take you out among them.

This lagoon holds more gray whales, more consistently, than anywhere else in Baja. It’s the same reason mother whales choose it to raise their calves: calm, sheltered water, close to shore. That’s also why the encounters here are unusually close calves especially will approach the boats on their own.

Baja Jones Adventures has run this camp for over 25 years. Booking now for the 2027 season.
